Baby Shower 101 - Baby Shower Myths

Myth: Baby Showers are for women only.
Fact: Coed baby showers are becoming more common. Many husbands would really enjoy going to a baby shower with their wife. A baby shower is an exciting event with friends and family.  The father to be would love to be part of celebrating the arrival of a new baby.

Myth: Baby showers are all about giving gifts.
Fact: Baby showers are not all about gift giving. It’s a great time for sharing experiences by experienced moms with the new mom to be as well as to bond and spend quality time with family and friends.

Myth: Baby shower gifts should be for the newborn age only.
Fact: Truth is that new parents get so many baby gifts for the newborn stage that most of the items never get used and get passed down.  Get a baby gift a child can grow into or be used at an infant stage or even toddler.

Myth: Baby shower gifts have to be expensive and elaborate.
Fact: Baby shower gifts do not have to be expensive.  A nice arrangement of useful and inexpensive baby items makes a great baby shower gift.  Making a diaper cake from scratch is a great way to show love and care to the expecting mom.  Not that crafty but still want to put your own touch on a diaper cake? Try a do-it-yourself diaper cake.

Myth: A baby shower must have a theme.
Fact: Having a baby shower theme is always nice, but it’s not a requirement.  There are many things you can do to make the venue feel special, whether you are hosting a baby shower at home or in a fancy restaurant.  You can decorate with natural materials such as plants, rock, water, bamboo and shells.  Crystal bowls arranged with fruit make very unique and edible decorations.
